Carlos Alcaraz shared a long kiss and embrace with the Musketeers' Cup before taking the microphone to tell the Philippe Chatrier about one of the greatest finals in the history of the sport.
"I would like to start with Jannik. Your level has been incredible. Congratulations on two weeks of hard work. I know how much you strive and how much you wanted to win this tournament. It's a privilege to share the court and make history with you. You will be a champion many more times. You are an inspiration to many people, to many children, and to me as well."
"Thanks also to my team, to my family. I am privileged to be able to experience all this with me. I am very lucky that so many people from Murcia could come to support me. This trophy is also for all the people who have helped me from home," added the man from El Palmar.
For his part, Sinner was full of praise for his conqueror this Sunday and said he will not sleep "too well" after this defeat. "It has been an incredible battle. You deserved it, so congratulations. It's easier to play than to talk. Thanks to my entire team for helping me to be in this place. We tried, we gave everything we had. It has been a great tournament," stated the visibly affected Italian by the defeat.
